Business and Company Research for Lawyers

This is a guide to resources for business and company research. It focuses on electronic resources freely accessible on the Internet and on databases available through the law library or LMU's main campus library.

Company and Financial Information

To find company information on Lexis, go to the Content tab and select Company & Financial

From here, you will be able to access Company Profiles, Industry Analyst Reports, Mergers and Acquisitions/Donations information, and SEC Filings.

Company Profiles includes resources such as D&B (Dun & Bradstreet) Company Report, Hoover's Company Records - In-depth Records, and Hoover's Industry Snapshots. Resources are available for both U.S. and non-U.S. companies.

All SEC Filings - Full-Text and Abstracts allows you to search EDGAR, either by searching all filings, or selecting a form type.

News Search

From the Content tab, select News or Legal News. Then select the publications you would like to search and run your search.

After you have run your search, you can use the filters on the left to further refine the search. To set up a news alert, choose your filters and then click on the bell icon to create the alert. This can be a good way to follow a particular company or topic.
