Business and Company Research for Lawyers

This is a guide to resources for business and company research. It focuses on electronic resources freely accessible on the Internet and on databases available through the law library or LMU's main campus library.

Business Law Center

The Business Law Center on Westlaw allows you to search SEC filings and administrative materials, as well as selected global filings and disclosures materials. To aceess the Business Law Center, select "Content types" and look for the Business Law Center under the Specialty areas.

Practical Law Glossary

For help understanding new terminology you may encounter in your company research, refer to the Glossary in Practical Law. The Glossary is located in the toolbar on the right hand side. Scroll down until you find it and then click "Access Now".

News Search

From the Content types, select News. You can search using the search bar at the top, browse the topics on the right, or browse the index of news publications.

After you have run a search, you can use the filters on the left to narrow your search. To create an alert, click on the bell icon and follow the steps to create your customized alert.
